My mum has sent me a Rhubarb crown…..it’s the first Rhubarb I’ve had on this site so I’m super excited. The variety is called ‘Champagne’. I also tend to my perennial kale (Taunton Deane) as it has come under some attack. Fingers crossed I’m not too late…..
I’m making the most of any bright moments in the weather. The little winter jobs continue and the pace is marvelously slow. Every session in the garden these days feels precious.
This is a lovely little YouTube bit of fun I’ve been asked to do……….it’s basically a think-out-loud about what did and didn’t work last year and thoughts for next year. I’m beyond giddy for next year already. Thank you to Jaz and Roo for the nomination.
It definitely feels like Winter has arrived. Each visit to the garden sees a little bit more of it tucked up until the Spring…..but there’s still plenty of green stuff to enjoy and food a-plenty growing…..and time to get on with some maintenance jobs and tinkering. It’s a wonderful time of year when everything slows down and we get a chance to slow down too and simply breathe it all in….
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has watched and commented and generally come along for the ride with me over this last year. It hasn’t always been easy and some of the veg refused to grow…..but it has been an absolute blast and I have had gorgeous food to sustain me…….and your support has been a massive sustenance to me also. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking back over the last 12 months – I hope you do too…..it’s a long one……maybe put a big pot of tea on. Thank you all for your advice, hints and tips……you really have made it so worthwhile. Happy holidays to you all with a big dollop of love from me.
It’s hard to believe another month has whizzed by……it has been a crazy busy month for me but I have managed to have some peaceful and reflective moments while practicing the Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. Don’t worry – it’s nothing morbid….far from it.
It may be chilly and damp out there but it’s perfect for a bit of digging and bed rearranging……my new motto has become ‘Just get out there!’……the rewards, for a few hours of work, are huge. I leave the garden on a high and know that I’m doing the best for my little space to give back to me next year…..so, go on, just get out there.
I’m so glad I managed to get some time in the garden yesterday to sort out my Pelargoniums for winter…….the temperature has really dropped and we’re beginning to see some frost and these wee plants wouldn’t be able to stand it. They’ll be quite happy at home with me over the winter and then, come spring, they can give me a few cuttings and get back to the garden ready to give me some blousy colour in the summer.
I was asked, a couple of weeks ago, to name/talk about the my favourite video….that I have made……it took me a while but here I am talking about it. I hope you saw this video (11 months ago) as it meant so much to me. 🙂 …..and please do look at the others I mention – wonderful people doing ordinary but wonderful things.
After a lengthy absence it’s time to get back into the garden. Some things are growing well (garlic)….others are a total fail (leeks)…..but some exciting new seeds to try next year make up for the disappointment.
