On the Sofa: Bills, Thermals & Tea!

Today I am having a bit of a re-jig in the kitchen in an attempt to lower one of my bills to spare a bit of money for the heating bill. I’ve also broken my ‘no-spend year’ promise to myself…..because of the cold. Happily, I have a gorgeous gift to warm me up!

  1. Hi Vivi 🙂

I’ve been so saddened to hear that you’ve been receiving a lot of troll-comments on your videos and I thought, since I never comment on youtube videos, that I have to send you a message.

I’m probably in the lower age demographic of your viewership but I think you are such an inspiration. Not to sound ridiculous but – I want to be like you when I grow up! haha

I live in a tiny cottage in the middle of nowhere Sweden (yes, it’s snowy and cold) and was desperate to learn how to garden to support myself. That’s how I found your channel.I had no idea I would find so much inspiration beyond that from you!

How you talk about frugality, simple living and finding joy in the small things really resonates with me and I often have your videos playing in the background whilst I’m cooking/cleaning/preserving/creating. Like a friendly neighbour sitting at the table with a cup of tea while I’m getting on with things.

I don’t have an allottment obviously (no need since everyone has outdoor space here) but we’ve created a community garden here in the village where we all grow together. At the cabin I solely focus on kale (just need to learn how to defend it against the deer in winter cause they are cunning and relentless) mainly because it’s so versatile. Beyond gardening I try to take advantage of the swedish law that is “every man’s right” which essentially means I am free to walk on any land, no matter who owns it, to forage for blueberries etc. It’s a privilege and such a wonderfult thing.

Anyway, apologies for the long comment, just wanted to send you a quick christmas message to show you that the trolls are a minority and you’re having a bigger (positive!) impact on people’s life than I think you realise.

    Lots of love,
    Ebba

    1. Thank you so much for your lovely, kind, and encouraging words. 😊
