Time to reflect……not just on this month but the whole year……and time to get excited for a whole new year to play with. Happy new year everyone.

This video is very quiet and without much action….it is simply the bees. Please enjoy and use for your meditation or prayer. But, please, if it isn’t your kind of thing don’t watch it and don’t give a thumbs down and leave a negative comment….in my world it’s all about the love and the positive. Have a beautiful and peaceful day.
Thank you all so much for your lovely words of support this year and for spoiling me this Christmas with greetings and gifts. I can’t wait to play with them all. I hope you all have a wonderful day and I wish you peace, joy, happiness and so much love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. X
What could be finer on a bright winter’s morning than a wander through the garden harvesting vegetables for a Christmas feast…..?
I was recently informed that fennel roots are edible so I obviously had to try them out. I’ve never experimented with a recipe on camera before (normally I try experimenting a few times without the camera rolling to get it just right)……..so this is a first……..it’s worth watching to the end. Was it gorgeous or did I spit it out? I was shocked.
During a super quick visit I managed to eke out a bit of compost to cover the last of my new perma beds…….and I had a go at chopping up leaf litter using a strimmer and a bucket…. I also remembered to grab a handful of the fennel roots, which I had dug out a few days before, to experiment with in the kitchen. Even if I only have a spare hour or two it’s worth a quick session in the garden at this time of year just for the light.
I’ve been meaning to sort out some storage for my bean poles for the longest time…….a bit of ‘freecyling’ has just given me a solution for now at least. The Achocha comes down…….and I’m already making plans to do better with it next year.
My mum has sent me a Rhubarb crown…..it’s the first Rhubarb I’ve had on this site so I’m super excited. The variety is called ‘Champagne’. I also tend to my perennial kale (Taunton Deane) as it has come under some attack. Fingers crossed I’m not too late…..
I’m making the most of any bright moments in the weather. The little winter jobs continue and the pace is marvelously slow. Every session in the garden these days feels precious.
For a few pence and a little bit of time (on a grey day) it is so easy to make one’s own cleaning products…….and by making them ourselves we can massively reduce our consumption of plastic. Today it’s fabric softener and loo cleaners.
For the loo cleaner (bog bombs!) I used 4 cups of baking soda, 2/3rds of a cup of citric acid, 40 drops of essential oil and 4 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide – halve the amounts for a smaller batch if you prefer.
