I don’t make New Year’s resolutions as such but, after a bit of a tricky few weeks at the end of last year, I reminded myself of a phrase I heard a long time ago, ‘If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got’, and decided it was time to make some changes…..myriad tiny changes that I hope will add up to a bigger change.
Month: January 2021
Rain and pain stops play.
A combination of rain and pain are scuppering my garden plans at the moment so I am getting on with my ‘cottage industry’ indoors (making gift seed packets) and gardening vicariously through my friend Paul. Oh, and a couple of fabulous ‘Scrabble’ words for you!

It is entirely possible to grow an abundant garden with thousands of pounds (or dollars) worth of vegetables for very little money….literally for pennies. Sunday on the Sofa: Late to the party!
A few technical issues mean that Sunday is a bit late this week……..rather like my mail! My postal service is still very intermittent, about once a fortnight at the moment, so when it does turn up it’s a bumper delivery. This week the other half of my Christmas arrived! It’s a grey, wet day out there so come and relax on the sofa with me for a natter and a cup of tea.
Vivi’s Kitchen Garden 326: Shed tour – ideas for a no-spend fit-out.
I’m often asked about my shed…..so here it is, hopefully all your questions answered. The shed shell cost money…….but the fit-out and everything you see inside was for nothing…I hope this video will give you some ideas for your fit-out especially if you’re on a tight or none existent budget. It’s all about cramming in the storage/work space while making it a home-from-home. Check out your skips!
Vivi’s Kitchen Garden 235: This time last year – January 2020.
I take a look back at the garden this time last year……..it’s only been a year but I have already forgotten so much of this……seeing the garden then and how far it has come gives me a good spurt to get going again.
Vivi’s Kitchen Garden 324: All my seeds for 2021.
After a couple of deliveries from seed companies and a sort out of all my own saved seeds I think I finally have all my seeds gathered together for 2021. Yay!
Sunday on the Sofa: My annual ‘Sort-it’ day.
At the beginning of each year I take a day to sort all my bits and pieces for my home…..paperwork, bills, plans, identifying problems etc…..and checking on my safety equipment.
