Whether you have tried a no spend month for the first time or are continuing with a no spend year let’s take a moment to reflect on how January went. I’ll be chatting about, amongst other things; dealing with ‘slip-ups’, unforeseen expenses…..guilt…….plus some tips and ideas to, hopefully, help you reach your goal.
Month: January 2024
On the Sofa: Confessions from my childhood (and other chat).
Another mixed bag from the basket of random chat……including some confessions for naughtiness as a child. Plus: curiosity, crazy creatures, adder snakes, nerdy kid, secret doors….
On the Sofa (with books): A Caveman, a Book Seller & an Explorer. #booktube
Today’s books are another eclectic selection form Christmas presents and the last of my ‘treats for a tenner’. Including: Clive King’s ‘Stig of the Dump’, Bernard J, Farmer’s ‘Death of a Bookseller’ and Felicity Aston’s ‘Call of the White’.
On the Sofa: Clutter Busting. But…is it clutter?
A couple of years ago I had a thorough clutter busting through the whole flat so there really isn’t much left to sort (with a house move in mind) but……..there are a couple of boxes which are proving to be a bit difficult. One of the boxes hasn’t been opened for 12 years…….what on earth should I do with these things? Plus a chat with some ideas about how to tackle your own clutter.
On the Sofa: Are you a Vicar? And other random chat.
Cosy up for a chat of all sorts on stuff from the basket of random chat: Agatha Christie, lighthouses on tv, the joy of hand-knitted socks, village life, ‘are you a vicar?’, book swapping, running without breaking wind……..and more.
On the Sofa (with books): Book Tapas!
Today we’re going back in time to the first few books I ever talked about on my channel. Goodness me, there are quite a few here…….think of it like Tapas…….but with books……sample a little of everything before you decide what you’d like to tuck into for a full meal!
Beyond Frugal: Tomato Soup. Shop bought vs Homemade.
There’s nothing more comforting on a cold, damp day than a bowl of hot soup……one of my favourites is tomato soup. A simple, humble soup that, surely, can be made for a fraction of the price that a tin of the stuff costs at a supermarket? Today I am putting that question to the test….and with all the ingredients bought from a shop rather than using my veggies from the garden (to show how it can be done for those without a garden). But…..at the end…..I will reveal the cost for those of us with a garden and it will possibly shock you!
Beyond Frugal: Weekly shopping £6.41 ($8.15)
My shopping this week came to £6.41 ($8.15) but also includes a purchase I wouldn’t normally make…..it’s for a recipe video I’ll be making soon. I also talk through my meal plan for the coming week and it’s full of favourite, tasty dishes. Also, please note, when I was talking about ibuprofen I accidentally said grams when I meant milligrams!
On the Sofa (with books): A talking cat, a spooky house and an old gardener.
Today’s books include two that I bought as part of my ‘treats for a tenner’ just before Christmas: Sosuke Natsukawa’s ‘The Cat Who Saved Books’ and Jane Healey’s ‘The Animals of Lockwood Manor’ plus, a beautiful gift of a book; Marc Hamer’s ‘Spring Rain’.
Beyond Frugal: A day in the life of a frugal girl – New Year jobs.
Happy new ‘getting on with it’ year. Today I am getting stuck into myriad small jobs: food shopping, meal planning, balm making, flat staging, hair cutting, tool maintenance, stock for my shop……..and all with minimal or zero spending.
