Vivi’s Kitchen Garden: Reviving your old plot/Taking on your new plot.

If you have been away from your garden for a while (winter, health etc) it can feel like you’re starting all over again (and feel rather daunting!)………or perhaps you have just got your first plot and don’t know where to start. Today I am using my old, now overgrown, garden as an example and share what I would do to get things growing again. Seeing my old garden like this just goes to show how much work I used to need to put in it keep it tidy and clean!

At Home: Spring Clean! Rust, Limescale & Wax.

I’m fitting some cleaning jobs in around other work today. My cleaning kit includes: white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, rubbing alcohol, cloths, scrubbing brush, old toothbrush, an old credit (type) card…….plus a bit of elbow grease. I’m tackling my old nemesis limescale…..plus some rust on fabric and wax on glass.

It’s the end of my week of sharing my cooking/eating…….the final cost to me was £6.18 (a little under 45p per meal)…….but I have also calculated what it would cost if I didn’t have a garden……in other words, what would it cost you if you went and bought everything I used this week. Plus a chat about next week’s menu ideas and possible shopping list.

In the Kitchen: A Week of Eating: Day seven – 75p

Day seven of sharing my week of eating/cooking……and two more lovely meals for a budget price of 75p. It’s busy day for me today….playing catch-up on jobs put off because of the lurgy…..so they’re quick, freezer meals……which gives me a chance to catch up with you on what the shopping list would look like to buy all the ingredients for this last week of meals.

In the Kitchen: A Week of Eating: Day six – 50p

Day six of sharing my week of eating/cooking……and two meals for just 50p. A new recipe today which I’m adapting slightly from a book I found super cheap in a sale. Sweet potato and bean (or chickpea) stew. I can’t wait to try it. There are spices in it so I will be a bit cautious with amounts as I don’t like having the roof of my mouth blown off! I have left over squash from earlier in the week and some sweet potato from today which I will use later to make my beat-a-cold soup…….recipe card at the end of the video.
