Apologies: the first section with the tomatoes is a bit quiet….the rest is normal. Although we are forecast a load of rain to come I decide my pots need a good soaking……I talk about the blueberries watering requirements. And, on the subject of rain, thoughts are turning to the possibility of tomato blight so today I am giving them a bit of pre-emptive care. Coming back to the garden after an absence of nearly a month can be quite daunting (weeds! etc)….today I chat about how I prioritise the work when so much needs doing.
Month: July 2023
On the Sofa: The Joys of Summer.
Filmed at the very beginning of July. Ahhh, summer! Well, the weather might not be playing ball but some of my favourite things about summer are happening anyway…..and they bring me enormous joy. Another chatty one with some memories of times in Greece thrown into the mix…….I’m making the most of summer while it lasts. Oh, and, life lessons from a glacier!
Vivi’s Kitchen Garden: Making the garden work for me.
I had mentioned, in a previous video, that I am really loving the garden this year……more than ever before, in fact. I think there are a number of reasons for this and it’s largely down to the changes I have made this year so…….while I sit and harvest some blueberries I talk about what those changes have been and I hope, by sharing, that other folk may get some ideas to help them stay in their gardens if they’ve recently thought about giving it up.
On the Sofa: Summer Jobs (romance!) & Cream Teas (plus a couple of books).
Filmed back in June. Today I’m reminiscing about my first summer job and the lovely weeks spent working and playing at the seaside (and my first summer holiday romance)…..which also makes me think about cream teas (and how much I really want one right now!). And I have a couple of books to share with you; one of which was particularly challenging. Join me for a walk down memory lane filled with sandy toes and salty kisses….just like the sign in my shed says.
Vivi’s Kitchen Garden: Coming Back (plus bugs and birds).
After an absence of three weeks I’m getting back to the garden and, more than that, getting back to making videos. Baby steps. Today is about giving thanks……and the joy of the wildlife in my garden, particularly the Stag beetles and the Jays……
In the Kitchen: Chatting & Cooking (Pea Risotto).
I filmed this a month ago….hopefully some of you will still have some peas to harvest! Today I am making one of my favourite dishes; pea risotto…….but, first, a bit of a podding session and a chat about how I came by the peas and the general loveliness of friendship, sharing and giving in the gardening community.
On the Sofa: Simple Pleasures & Trying a New Fruit.
I made this video before my sister’s death……I love that she’s included in it…and hope you will enjoy it too before I get back to filming in real time. A gorgeous package arrived in the post and got me thinking about some of my favourite things….and they are all such simple pleasures to do with paper….. I’ve also been enjoying lots of fruit during the hotter weather and decided it was high time to try one of my Sister’s favourites…….hahaha, yes, I really have managed to get to my mid 50s without ever eating one! I even managed to forget what it’s called!
On the Sofa: The saddest news.
This is a sad video….please don’t watch it if you are feeling low or fragile.
