At Home: Cleaning vintage baskets plus….’Wild’ deodorant hack

Today I am continuing with my annual spring cleaning jobs: today it’s all my baskets. I love baskets and use a lot of them…….they are beautiful objects which give any room warmth and are, of course, totally sustainable AND compostable at the end of their lives. Plus: I’m sharing my hack for getting every last bit out of my ‘Wild’ deodorant……..you know, that bit that’s left at the bottom!

On the Sofa (with books): To the Seaside! #booktube

Today it’s all about taking a dip and enjoying our beaches. Three fabulous books: ‘At the Pond – Swimming at the Hampstead Ladies’ Pond’, ‘Salt on your Tongue – Women and the Sea’ by Charlotte Runcie and ‘The Book of Pebbles’ by Christopher Stocks & (illu) Angie Lewin.

My spring cleaning continues….today it’s the big task of cleaning my book collection. I’ll share with you the tricks of my old trade…….and reminisce about the world of book selling as I go with a few insights into what makes a book valuable for selling….

Vivi’s Kitchen Garden: Last session in my garden.

I have nearly finished emptying the shed…….and distributing gifts around my site……but a few little jobs to do today make for a very happy last (I think!) session in the garden. NB. I erroneously talked about pruning roses for folk on my site….I meant, of course, pruning tomatoes!

At Home: Cooking and Chatting: food nostalgia, sponsorship & encounters.

I’m making some soup from leftovers and chatting while I’m at it. A trip down memory lane for some favourite foods from childhood……a chat about sponsorship, freebies and Patreon…..and some recent encounters which made me smile a lot! Grab a cuppa and join me for a natter.

On the Sofa (with books): Beach Combing & Country Life #booktube

Another lovely trio of books, one of which (possibly even two) looks set to be on my top five list at the end of the year. Amy Leach – ‘Things That Are’. Jean Sprackland – ‘Strands – a year of discoveries on the beach’. Roger Deakin – ‘Notes from Walnut Tree Farm’.

At Home: Personal Hygiene Costs.

I have been asked, on numerous occasions, to share what my other shopping costs are outside of buying food…….so today I’m sharing my shopping/spending associated with personal hygiene/the bathroom.

Vivi’s Kitchen Garden: Reviving your old plot/Taking on your new plot.

If you have been away from your garden for a while (winter, health etc) it can feel like you’re starting all over again (and feel rather daunting!)………or perhaps you have just got your first plot and don’t know where to start. Today I am using my old, now overgrown, garden as an example and share what I would do to get things growing again. Seeing my old garden like this just goes to show how much work I used to need to put in it keep it tidy and clean!
