I’ve just received some news about my house move which means a huge delay. But, first, a change of my immediate plans after an ‘ouch’ moment. Also, ugh, the camera focus on this one is awful…..I suggest listening whilst doing something else!
Year: 2022
Beyond Frugal: A Low Spend Year: Clothes.
Continuing in our series on having a low spend year today’s chat is all about clothes. I’m sure many of you do these things already……and may have other ideas and tips too; if so please feel free to share them with each other in the comments section. I hope you’ve all managed to save quite a few quid already this year.
Vivi’s Kitchen Garden: Preparing for muck!
There’s a slight change of plan today…….I had been intending to get stuck into the herb bed…..but after a text about getting some horse manure I decided I’d better get the beds ready to receive it. And then the plan changed again…….it’s good to be flexible!
Vivi’s Kitchen Garden: March Garden Tour (’22)
Not quite the start of the month but time for a tour of the garden. It finally feels like winter is on the way out and spring is arriving. During today’s tour I outline which crops are going in each bed (and their follow-on crops where appropriate)…….it’s a plan…..now I just need to do it all.
On the Sofa: They’re done (the lavender bags)! & other chat.
Yay! The lavender bags are done and ready to go on sale later today. A little catch up with some other stuff too including a pineapple, an aerogram and some sweet smelling clothes.
On the Sofa: Sewing projects, house move & random chat.
Goodness me it’s a long one! I hadn’t intended it to be so long….but I was enjoying chatting to you while I worked on the lavender bags…..so, make a pot of tea, grab your sewing or knitting (ironing etc!), get yourself comfy and hang out with me, like old friends, while I chat about future sewing projects, the house move and other random stuff.
Thoughts on…..month 58: Looking forward.
Another month has whizzed by and although it didn’t start in the best way with a stay in hospital I think it has ended quite well…….and I have much to look forward to.
Vivi’s Kitchen Garden: After the Storms. Return to the garden.
I haven’t been to the garden for about ten days…..and in that time we’ve had three storms. Storm Eunice was particularly windy so I have a little trepidation about returning to the garden and seeing the damage to my shed roof. While I’m at the garden I tend to my potatoes by putting them out to chit….and I give my garlic a top dressing of fertiliser. A bit of a pottering morning and making the most of the beautiful light and the quiet after the storms.
Try it Yourself: Super easy cushion cover for beginners (plus sewing machine tips).
It’s a bit of a long one today as I have tried to cover a number of tips/techniques for the total beginner to sewing on a sewing machine. The video culminates in making the easiest cushion cover ever (so easy, and no zip…..it’s a 15 minute make!). Subjects covered include: changing a machine needle, changing the sewing foot, over-sewing a raw edge, creating a seam, seam allowances and creating a hem.
On the Sofa: Storms, seeds & kitchen chaos.
Today is a bit of a mixed bag……it’s time to start my first indoor seeds, the peppers, and propagate some more Pelargoniums….but first of all…how did I fare during storm Eunice? And why is there a freezer in my living room? And what did the postman bring? Grab a cuppa and let’s have a natter.
